9:30 – 4:00 each day
Miep’s Studio or NPCC (Painting Loft) TBA
Register for a One-day, Two-day or Three-day Package
Costs: TBA (est.)
1-day pkg = $90
2-day pkg = $160
3-day pkg = $210 (These estimates are based on Sandy’s best “guess” re
participant numbers and could change a little bit, either up or down. We’ll give everyone the best price possible as we just need to recover workshop costs.)
Each day Grant will demonstrate and guide us through the creation of a complete watercolour painting (landscape or still-life) in a step-by-step manner. His demonstrations allow everyone to work at their own level, regardless of experience. Some familiarity with basic watercolour materials and techniques (i.e. basic washes) is required, but you do not have to be an experienced painter. These workshops are designed to help you become a better painter. Bring your questions and enthusiasm. There will be plenty of opportunity for personal attention.
Grant will discuss the importance of sketchbook studies. Whether done on location or from photos, they are important for ensuring you can draw all the elements that are going into the painting, that you are editing/simplifying the landscape for a good composition and can see the values before you begin. If you skip this stage, all of your mistakes will end up in the painting.
Each session is a “stand alone” experience. Learning and painting success isn’t dependent on taking each class in order. You may take Day Two or Day Three without having participated in Day One, or register for Day One and Day Three for example.
Bring a lunch (if at Miep’s). Coffee, tea and some “recess” snacks will be provided .
To register, contact Shar Coultry at Peace Gallery North, 10015 100th St. in FSJ (250) 787-0093.<.h4> A non-refundable deposit of $50 will hold your place.

Day One and Two: Water in Watercolour and Skies in Landscapes
Local landscape subjects will be featured with step-by-step demonstrations. Participants will have the opportunity to work on paintings of their choice with personal guidance and feedback from Grant. You are encouraged to bring your own photographic references or you may use one of Grant’s.
Techniques will apply to skies and the differing moods they reflect, trees, still/flowing water, banks with driftwood and rocks and reflections in our landscape.
Day Three: Still Life
Participants are asked to bring one or two interesting items that might be included in a still life composition.
