We will work fairly small (quarter sheet or less) in order to cover several different subjects. I will demonstrate basic washes such as the snow scene above, how to loosen up with florals, more precise rendering with still life, and negative painting trees and reflections.
This workshop is intended for those who have some experience with the materials but eager to learn some of the skills shown here.
It is not necessary to buy more materials if you already have a good collection of paint and brushes. It is important to have good rag paper such as Arches, Winsor Newton or the one I am using these days, TH Saunders (200lb.) Blocks are fine or sheets cut in four (11” x 15”) pieces. One hundred forty pound paper is fine when working this small.
I use a 1” flat synthetic brush for most of my work and switch to a #8 round for finishing. You can see the other materials I use on my web site at
